OMV Petrom renews its partnership with the Gheorghe Hagi Academy

OMV Petrom renews, for the next three years, the partnership with the Gheorghe Hagi Academy (AGH), and the contribution of 2.4 million euro will be used for the selection, training and promotion of 400 young football players in order to develop this sport in Romania.

According to a company statement, the Academy will also develop a series of projects aimed at sustainability aspects: the purchase and installation of photovoltaic panels, lighting with LED bulbs, planting trees around the base and studies and activities to reduce carbon emissions.

“Among the most important directions through which we contribute to the development of society is education. We support the growth of a new, healthier, performing generation and contribute to the promotion of essential values, such as self-confidence, fair play, teamwork and continuous improvement These are values that we share with the Gheorghe Hagi Academy, where we are happy to see an increased commitment to sustainability and to the development of the female team,” said Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.

The academy will provide access to seven training pitches and one pitch for official games and will continue to develop the sports base by building a new training pitch for winter training.

“OMV Petrom became a long-term partner, who understood that performance in sports is built over time, with patience, passion and adequate resources. With the company’s help, we can continue to offer children the best performance facilities at one of the the most important Academies in Central and Eastern Europe, intended for the formation and training of future successful footballers on an international level. We thank them for supporting performance in sports,” added Gheorghe Hagi, founder of AGH.
