Gabriel Selischi, OMV Petrom Executive Board member responsible for Upstream, was cited saying: “Due to high investment, after which we had several breakthroughs in recent years, Gorj has become a leading region in the production of gas, which currently supplies 40% of OMV Petrom’s gas production. It is a real achievement that we managed to revive the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Gorj County with investment and modern technologies, despite a history of 130 years of oil exploitation.”

The project on Hurezani gas delivery system was completed in 2010. Another project aims Totea Deep deposit, which was identified in 2011 and is one of the most important onshore gas discoveries in recent years in Romania, OMV notes. The project consisted of five deep water wells and building the associated infrastructure.

OMV Petrom estimates that FRD Bustuchin project will permit the increasing of gas production in the area by drilling of 21 new wells, six already being drilled. It will als modernize production infrastructure.
