OMV Petrom continues to support vocational and technical education

OMV Petrom supports professional and technical education in Romania by continuing the Craftsmen Camp project, in an online environment, in a form adapted to the current context.

The project is meant to increase the level of training of technology high school students and supports the continuous development of teachers. The project is adapted to the current epidemiological context, with activities and courses that will take place online from October 26 to November 6.

“We are all going through difficult times and educational activity is among the most affected in the context of the pandemic. OMV Petrom has been supporting vocational education since 2015 and we are glad that we have found solutions to continue these projects. Thus, we hope to contribute to the correlation of the offer of the educational system with the requirements of the Romanian labor market,” says Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.

The project is carried out in partnership with two high schools in Prahova County: Câmpina Mechanical Technological High School and Elie Radu Ploiești Technical College. The project is dedicated to the 156 ninth grade students, mechanics and electricians, and the 81 teachers and is part of the activities planned in the Different School program. Future mechanics and electricians will go through an intense program, which includes personal and professional development workshops. The teachers involved in the project will participate in training courses for adapting methods and subjects to online teaching and for managing conflict situations in the teacher-adolescent relationship.

All beneficiaries of the project from the two partner schools will benefit from digital equipment, tablets and internet subscription for a period of 1 year, amounting to 37,000 euro.
