Offshore gas resources in the Black Sea are very promising, and the Competent Authority for the Regulation of Offshore Petroleum Operations in the Black Sea (ACROPO) estimates that OMV Petrom and Romgaz will submit the documents regarding the Neptune Deep project in July or August, said the vice president the institution Anca Dunca, at the 9th edition of the Energy Strategy Summit, an event organized by Energynomics.

“In 2020, the Media Development project was opened and put into production in June. We await with interest the notification of the Neptune Deep project. I hope that in July or at the latest at the beginning of August we will also have the notification regarding the design for Neptune Deep”, said Dunca.

At the same time, ACROPO looks with confidence at the prospect of the development of the offshore wind industry in the Black Sea, and the Government is working intensively on a legislation that would give ACROPO the responsibility of supervising these investments. Concretely, the object of activity of ACROPO will be completed with the management of the development of offshore wind projects.

Anca Dunca claims that the draught law may be approved this autumn, allowing Romania to begin “this notable and long-awaited project” that might eventually give the country “some” energy independence.

“We are working on this project together with the Ministry of Energy. We want Romania to take important steps towards energy security”, stressed Dunca.
