The mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, announces that there is “political will” for dissolving municipal companies, a will expressed by PNL and USR PLUS in the election campaign and which is still maintained. “I have information that collective labor agreements have been signed in municipal companies to make it harder for those people to be fired,” said Nicusor Dan on Tuesday evening, according to News.ro.

Nicuşor Dan spoke, on Tuesday evening, at Digi 24, about the municipal companies established by the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest under the mandate of Gabriela Firea.

Asked if there could be no more staff reductions or restructuring, Dan said: “If there is a collective agreement and that collective agreement obliges the company to pay compensatory wages for liquidation, then … and if that contract it’s legal … there are a lot of cases we’ll see when we’re there. But if all of them line up, you may have to pay people when you dissolve the company. (…) With regard to companies that are subordinated to the municipality, it is an attribute of the General Council that set them up to dissolve or restructure them. There is the political will for these companies to be dissolved, a political will that was expressed by the new majority PNL – USR PLUS in the electoral campaign and that is being kept “, the new general mayor of the Capital also stated.

On August 17, as a candidate in the local elections, Nicuşor Dan announced that, if he becomes mayor, he will dissolve most of the municipal companies established during Gabriela Firea’s term. Exceptions will be made for companies that manage district heating and lighting.
