The re-establishment of the Ministry of Energy “is a very good thing”, says the former minister Răzvan Nicolescu.

“The fact that Climate changes will not be set together with the Energy is a major disadvantage for the Romanian energy sector in the coming years. The risk that the gaps between us and other EU countries will widen is high,” says Nicolescu.

“I call on political leaders who are preparing tomorrow to form a government coalition to stop treating climate change and the environment with disinterest. Climate change is the biggest problem of this decade. Romania does not yet have a set date for achieving neutrality in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and no central structure dedicated to managing the transition…

There is a great need for a ministry of Energy and Climate changes.

There is also a need for a minister of Environment, Water and Forests willing to fight the deforestation mafia, not for one who is happy to represent it. Things have gone too far, especially in Bistrița, Mureș and Harghita counties where they are stealing heavily with the support of local politicians. I hope that the UDMR has a different vision than the one regarding the past regarding the forests and to nominate a person willing to serve the public interest,” the former minister claims.
