Energy efficiency is a topic that is perhaps not emphasized and not talked about that much in Romania, and therefore we need to raise awareness on this topic, said on Tuesday the president of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK Romania), Sebastian Metz, at a specialized conference.

“We need to raise awareness about energy efficiency, because energy efficiency is, in my opinion, another topic that is perhaps not so much emphasized, that is not talked about so much here in Romania. Now we are all seeing some increase in energy bills. Of course, awareness, but also campaigns to disseminate knowledge about energy efficiency measures, are something that we can perhaps step up in Romania. We can all discuss how we should increase energy efficiency in the existing building stock, but without the availability – in terms of quantity and quality – of experts, the objective will not be achieved. So, we really need to focus on creating the availability of experts, of companies, of technical experts in Romania, to be able to carry out these activities, because these are not simple at all,” said Metz.

According to the AHK Romania official, in the energy efficiency segment, a series of solutions must be found, both from the economic sector and from the political area, which could translate into the application of support schemes.

“Most of the activities on what energy efficiency means are very technical, and in order to apply these technical solutions we need to create a basis for all of this. This is something that we also need to take care of maybe a little more here, from the economic sector, but also from the political sector, perhaps through support schemes that we can facilitate, to create this expertise that we need, to create, in fact, the basis for energy efficiency”, pointed out Sebastian Metz.
