The General Assembly of the Romanian Energy Suppliers Association (AFEER), held on September 24, 2025, appointed its new leadership for the next two years. Following the vote, Laurențiu Urluescu (Gen-I Bucharest – Electricity Trading and Sale SRL) was re-elected as president of AFEER, confirming the trust placed by the association’s members for continuity and representativeness in the face of the challenges of the energy market. In the same framework, the members of the Board of Directors, the coordination structure of AFEER activities, both in the electricity and natural gas sectors, were elected.

Board of Directors for the electricity activity:

    1. Dana Cănea representing OMV Petrom S.A.
    2. Tudor Cîrstea representing Freepoint Commodities Europe LLP
    3. Cristian Culea representing PPC Energie SA
    4. Aurel Mîndrican representing Ker Toki Power AD

Board of Directors for the natural gas activity:

    1. George Mihai representing Tinmar Energy SA
    2. Denisa Voiculescu representing Engie Romania SA
    3. Alexandru Elena representing E.ON Energie România SA
    4. Melania Cozea representing Premier Energy Furnizare SRL

AFEER members emphasized that the period since the last elections has been marked by numerous challenges, mainly determined by the frequent changes in the regulatory framework, the overcharging of certain specific activities in the sector and the significant delays in the settlement of amounts resulting from the application of capping and compensation mechanisms.

AFEER reaffirms its commitment to supporting a liberalized, transparent, liquid and fair energy market, which meets both the needs of consumers and the requirements of safety and security in the supply of electricity and natural gas.

“We will continue to promote the development of the electricity and natural gas market and clear and accessible information for consumers. We support fair competition, transparency, non-discriminatory access to the market, business ethics and the application of international best practices. We will also constantly advocate for authorities to consult the business environment before making decisions with a major impact on the energy sector, so as to avoid affecting the functionality of the market.

The common objective of authorities and actors in the energy market must remain to ensure consumers – households and industrialists – a secure, sustainable, competitive energy supply at fair prices”, declared Laurențiu Urluescu, President of AFEER.

Established in 2006, AFEER brings together 46 members, suppliers and licensed traders active on the electricity and/or natural gas market. The association’s members ensure the supply of energy to a wide range of customers – from individuals, to SMEs and large industrial consumers – covering approximately 85% of the final electricity consumption and 85% of the final natural gas consumption in Romania.
