As of May 2016 the volume of the unloaded crude by KMG International through the offshore terminal out in the Black Sea, operated by Midia Marine Terminal (MMT) company, reached 25.5 million tons since 2009, when the offshore terminal was put into operation.

“The operational records of the marine terminal represent a result of the investments carried out by KMG International and its sole shareholder, the National Oil and Gas Company of Kazakhstan “KazMunayGas”, in Romania. The Group has a strategic position in the geographical bridge that connects the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea with Western Europe. KMG International, a key player in Romanian oil and gas sector, has access to the rich natural resources of Kazakhstan. It also ensures the transportation and refining of the crude through an integrated system. The offshore terminal can ensure approximately 40% of the crude refined in Romania, being directly connected to the tank farm of Petromidia Refinery”, stated Ioan Taus, General Manager of Midia Marine Terminal.

KMG International’s investments for putting into operation the marine terminal amounted over $100 million. In 2015, the system for transfer of crude through the oil terminal was replaced, as a result of the mandatory maintenance works which were carried out. The investments amounted $3.5 million.

During February 2009 – May 2016 there were unloaded around 300 oil vessels through the oil marine terminal accounting for over 25 million tons of crude. The terminal is 8.6 km offshore in the Black Sea, having a maximum transshipment capacity of 24 million tons per year.

Through KMG International investments, the Petromidia Refinery’s capacity has increased from 3.5 million tons to 5 million tons per year and the production can reach 15.000 tons of raw materials per day, being the largest refinery in the country. On Petromidia platform, the investments made between 2007 – 2015 for the modernization and increase of the production capacities, as well as for the alignment of the products to the international environment and quality standards, exceed the value of USD 1.4 billion.

In order to increase the turnover of the products yielded by Petromidia Refinery, in 2008 Midia Marine Terminal modernized and extended the capacity of berth no. 9 (9A, 9B and 9C terminals), whereas in 2011, 7 berths were dredged in the Midia Port, belonging to the Group. As a result of these works the transfer capacity of the finite products tripled reaching over 350.000 tons/month, allowing the docking of vessels with a capacity of over 10.000 dwt* and barges of 2.000 dwt.

Almost 3.200 vessels transited the berths operated by MMT in Midia Port (berths no. 1 – 4 for crude and 9 – 9A, 9B and 9C for petroleum products) during February 2009 – May 2016.

The National Oil and Gas Company from Kazakhstan – KazMunayGas is one of the shareholders of Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC)**, being the operator of the oil pipeline connecting the West Kazakhstan with Novorossiysk – a port on the shore of the Black Sea. Since 2008, the company has been the sole owner of the oil terminal in Batumi port, Georgia.

At European level, KMG International owns over 1.000 filling stations. The Group owns Petromidia Navodari and Vega Ploiesti (the oldest in Romania, since 1905), refineries, as well as petrochemical division, which makes Rompetrol Rafinare the sole domestic manufacturer of polymers.
