Only 10% of gas consumers will receive compensated bills this winter and 15% of electricity consumers will benefit from a discount of up to 30 lei per month, according to a release of the Intelligent Energy Association.

The representatives of the association explained why the gas and energy bills came without compensated prices or with insignificant compensations, in the context in which many consumers reported that they either did not receive compensations on gas and energy bills, or received discounts of only 1- 2 lei/month, according to Agerpres.

The association reminds that the cap is applied only if the prices exceed the value of 1 leu/kWh with all taxes (minus the subscription).

“In the case of consumers that remained in the universal service or concluded electricity contracts in the competitive market until July 1, 2021, prices generally do not exceed the value of 1 lei / kWh and then nothing is capped. We appreciate that in case of over 75% of the domestic consumers of electricity there is nothing to be capped this year, not having the price of over 1 lei / kWh,” it is shown in the release.
“We estimate that about 25% of household electricity consumers do not meet the conditions of consumption and will not benefit from any compensation; about 60% of household electricity consumers will receive 1-2 lei compensation per month; about 15% among the domestic consumers of electricity will receive up to approximately 30 lei compensation per month,” added the representatives of the association.

In the case of gas, in order to benefit from the capping, the price must be higher than 0.37 lei/kWh, including taxes (less the subscription).

“In the case of consumers who were passed by the law in the free market on July 1, 2021 or did not conclude gas contracts in the competitive market after July 1, 2021, the prices generally do not exceed the value of 0.37 lei/kWh and then nothing is compensated. We estimate that in the case of over 85% of the domestic consumers of natural gas, there is nothing to be capped this year, since prices do not exceed 0.37 lei/kWh,” say the specialists.

“We estimate that about 40% of household gas consumers do not meet the conditions of consumption and will not receive any compensation; about 50% of domestic gas consumers have the price of gas this year below the price limit required by law for which compensation is granted and they will not benefit from any compensation; about 10% of the domestic gas consumers will receive up to about 150 lei compensation per month,” the specialists concluded.
