Hidroelectrica signed the contract for the modernization of the 20 kV substations Voila, Viştea, Arpașu, Scoreiu and Avrig, located on the Upper Olt sector. The works, initially estimated at 1,39 mln. lei without VAT, are to be executed by a consortium led by Energotehnica, the value of the contract being about 1.2 million lei (excluding VAT).

“We have proposed large-scale works in the area of modernization and refurbishment, which will consolidate the objectives that our company has in its portfolio. After the modernization of the 110 kV substations, carried out by Hidroeloectrica through the contract signed in 2019 with TIAB, we continue the works on the Olt Superior sector with the modernization of the 20kV transformer substations. Our intention is to introduce as many capacities as possible in a new life and operation cycle, so that we can be sure that they will respond promptly and efficiently to any requests of the national energy system,” said Bogdan Badea, President of the Directorate, Hidroelectrica.

The cells currently part of the 20 kV substations will be completely replaced with new prefabricated, metallic, closed, indoor cells. The OHL cell will also be equipped with a detachable switch, and the transformer cell will be equipped with fuses mounted on the detachable trolley.

The Upper Olt comprises the sector between the Venetia (Hoghiz) accumulation and the confluence with the Lotru river, has a length of 145 km and a gross drop of 131 m and consists of 11 power plants, distinguishing three different subsectors.

The Voila – Avrig sector includes five steps of equal fall, with a level difference of 10 meters. The hydroelectric power plants on this sector are: Voila, Viştea, Arpașu, Scoreiu and Avrig, these totaling an installed power of 71 MW and having an average energy production of 174.3 GWh/year.
