Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Power, a global developer of large-scale wind, solar and energy storage projects, has secured €58.5m financing from Erste Group Bank AG and Banca Comercială Română (BCR) to support the development of a 49.8 MW onshore wind project located in Săcele, in the Dobrogea region of southeastern Romania.

The financing supports the continued development of the project, with construction works already underway and completion expected in the second quarter of 2026. Once operational, the wind farm will add additional renewable energy capacity to Romania’s energy system, contributing to the country’s energy security and decarbonization goals.

“Central and Eastern Europe and, in particular, Romania remain strategic markets for Greenvolt, where we continue to develop and deliver high-quality projects with a clear and tangible impact on the energy transition process – essential for environmental reasons, but also to strengthen energy independence and security, increasingly important factors for the development and stability of countries”, said Joăo Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group.

“By supporting this project, Erste Group underlines its commitment to supporting and strengthening the renewable energy infrastructure in Romania. The financing program reflects our confidence in Greenvolt’s track record and in the long-term fundamentals of the Romanian renewable energy market”, said Ladislav Tolmáči, Head of Desk Project Finance, Erste Group Bank.

“The financing project is fully aligned with BCR’s strategy to support sustainable investments and the energy transition process in Romania. We are delighted to partner with Greenvolt in a project that contributes to strengthening the country’s renewable energy capacity and long-term energy security,” said Manuela Trisnevschi, Head of Energy and Utilities, Banca Comercială Română.

“The collaboration with Erste Group Bank AG and Banca Comercială Română for this transaction allowed us to structure a financial solution aligned with the project’s risk profile and the stage of development it is in. This partnership brings the Săcele wind farm closer to operationalization and strengthens our ability to develop multiple projects in parallel in key markets,” said Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance at Greenvolt Power.

The project further strengthens Greenvolt’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe, a region where the Group continues to advance a diversified portfolio of utility-scale projects in the wind, solar and battery energy storage segments, supported by a constant asset rotation and financing strategy.

In Romania, Greenvolt has a portfolio of utility-scale wind (555 MW), solar (77 MW) and battery storage (156 MW) projects, and is also present in the distributed generation segment by offering on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial customers through Greenvolt Next.
