We continue our presentation of the competitors for the Energynomics Awards with the section “Green energy achievement of the year”. This year’s nominations show the accelerated maturation of the Romanian market: large-scale PPA agreements, photovoltaic and hybrid parks delivered in record time, large-scale storage integration, technological innovation, and the first solid developments in the area of urban energy communities. Each project presented demonstrates that the transition is no longer an ambition, but a reality built through consistent investment, solid partnerships, and the industry’s ability to deliver concrete results. Only one of them will be awarded at the Gala on December 4, but all deserve our attention and respect.
DRI – Romania’s Largest Solar PPA
The power purchase agreement signed with OMV Petrom is the largest solar PPA ever concluded in Romania, combining three contracts over 8.5 years and securing around 100 GWh of clean electricity annually from the Glodeni and Văcărești solar parks. Beyond its scale, the deal signals real market maturity by enabling long-term, fixed-rate corporate offtake and creating a bankable model for major renewable investments. This achievement positions DRI as a catalyst of investor confidence and a benchmark for sustainable corporate partnerships across Central and Eastern Europe.
EDP Renewables – Albina PV
In 2025, the company inaugurated its largest utility-scale PV plant in Romania, marking a strong reaffirmation of its long-term commitment to the market, more than a decade after the last EDP renewable commissioning locally. Albina PV strengthens Romania’s solar base and confirms the growing role of international developers in the country’s green expansion.
Enevo Group – CEF Chișineu-Criș: Romania’s First Large-Scale PV Project with LONGi Hi-MO 9
CEF Chișineu-Criș stands as the first major photovoltaic installation in Romania built with the new LONGi Hi-MO 9 back-contact modules, among the world’s most efficient. Developed EPC by Enevo in just eight months, on a former fishery site within a Natura 2000 area, the 54 MWp plant includes more than 84,000 panels, generates over 70 GWh annually, and avoids 21,000 tonnes of CO₂. The project sets new national benchmarks for speed, build quality, and environmental integration.
Eurowind Energy – Teiuș Solar Park: Integrated PV + 117 MWh Storage
Teiuș Solar Park is Romania’s most significant PNRR-funded solar achievement and the largest operational PV project in Eurowind Energy’s local portfolio. Commissioned in April 2025, the 60.2 MW plant produces more than 103 GWh annually — enough for 25,000 households — and avoids 37,000 tonnes of CO₂. With a dedicated 110/20 kV substation and a 117 MWh battery system, Teiuș sets a national benchmark for integrated solar-plus-storage solutions that enhance grid stability, flexibility, and long-term decarbonisation.
ÎntreVecini – Urban Energy Communities & Block-Level Prosumers
ÎntreVecini delivers one of Romania’s most transformative green-energy achievements by enabling apartment blocks to produce, consume, and share clean electricity locally. Through pioneering pilots, the EnergiePeBloc guide, nationwide awareness campaigns, and direct contributions to legislation (OUG 59/2025), the number of block-level prosumers rose from 1 to 433 in four years. With 100 active community groups, 15,000 residents engaged, and 300 circular projects completed, ÎntreVecini is paving the way for Romania’s first functional urban energy communities in the 2026–2030 period.
Simtel Team – Giurgiu Solar Park
Giurgiu Solar Park is Romania’s largest photovoltaic project developed through ecological land reconversion, transforming an abandoned industrial ash pit into a 51.9 MWp renewable asset. Supported by NRRP funding, the EUR 60 million project will generate about 76,300 MWh per year and reduce more than 3,400 tonnes of CO₂ annually. At 80% completion, the project stands as a model of sustainable land reuse and high-impact renewable development.
Trina Storage – Trina Storage BESS Project
Trina Storage is delivering its first battery-energy-storage project in Romania: a 65 MWh system for RES Terranet Holding, scheduled for completion at the end of 2025. The project marks the start of a new chapter in grid flexibility and supports the integration of renewable capacities through essential balancing services.
