Eurowind Energy Romania takes another important step in expanding its local portfolio, announcing the development of three new wind projects – Frumușița, Vector and Pecineaga NorthEst – with a total installed capacity of 138 MW. The projects will be equipped with 23 Vestas V162-6.2 MW Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines from the EnVentus platform, marking a close collaboration between the two Danish companies, which thus strengthen their long-term partnership on the Romanian market.
Delivery of the turbines is planned for the second half of 2026 and commissioning is estimated for 2027. The three projects are distributed in strategic regions: Frumușița (Galați County) – 66 MW with 11 turbines, Pecineaga NorthEst (Constanta County) – 48 MW with 8 turbines, and Vector – 24 MW with 4 turbines. The contract signed with Vestas includes, in addition to delivery and installation, a 20-year maintenance agreement, through the Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) program, ensuring long-term performance and operational availability.
The projects mark a new stage in the maturation of the national wind sector, emphasizes Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Eurowind Energy Romania. “For over a decade we have been building a solid local team, a growing portfolio and reliable partnerships. Frumușița, Vector and Pecineaga NordEst are important not only because of their size, but also because they mark a new stage in the development of wind projects at national level”, he says.
For his part, Morten Gaarde, EPC Director at Eurowind Energy, emphasizes the strategic importance of Romania for the company: “Romania is a key market for us and we are happy to take the next step with this order. […] We look forward to developing our long-standing partnership with Vestas, realizing these projects together.”
For Vestas, the 143 MW contract consolidates its position as leader of the Romanian wind turbine market. Since 2009, the Danish company has installed over 1.5 GW of wind capacity in Romania and manages maintenance services for more than 1.2 GW. The local network includes five service centers and a regional training center, with over 550 employees in the country, including an extensive team of service technicians.
Srdan Cenic, General Manager of Vestas Mediterranean East, highlights the local relevance of the collaboration: “This order demonstrates our strength in local execution and service expertise, as well as our ability to deliver the most advanced wind technology, supporting Romania’s energy transition.”
The context is favorable for these investments: Romania is accelerating its energy transition through legislative reforms, future CfD auctions, and network infrastructure modernization, creating a more predictable and attractive framework for investors. In this climate, Eurowind Energy Romania, active since 2011, continues to develop a solid portfolio, which includes four operational solar parks (Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești, and Teiuș) and projects totaling approximately 7.5 GW in various stages of development. By the end of 2025, the company estimates an operational capacity of 124 MW in Romania.
