Eurowind Energy Romania announces the start of the testing phase of the Pecineaga wind farm, Constanța County, in preparation for the operationalization of the project. After the successful completion of the energizing of the power station and the wind turbines, the project has entered a new technical phase, essential for validating the operation of the facilities and for the transition to commercial operation.

This phase confirms that the main facilities of the park are ready for the final technical checks before commissioning. In the following period, the operation of the equipment, the operational safety and the complete integration of the park systems will be validated, as the last step before the project is put into operation.

With an installed capacity of 48 MW and an investment of approximately EUR 90 million, Pecineaga is one of the important projects in Eurowind Energy’s local portfolio and marks the approach to the moment when the investment will actually start delivering renewable energy to the National Energy System.

“Pecineaga has entered a decisive stage: the one in which an investment of approximately EUR 90 million moves from the execution phase to preparation for operation. We have reached this point later than we would have liked, but the important thing is that the project has now entered the final testing phase, and we are optimistic that from now on things will progress at a good pace and that, soon, the park will start delivering renewable energy to the National Energy System”, says Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Romania, Eurowind Energy.

The Pecineaga wind farm is equipped with 8 Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-170 turbines, the largest type of wind turbine installed in Romania. With a rotor diameter of 170 meters and a nominal capacity of 6.6 MW per turbine, this model represents a state-of-the-art technology, optimized for high efficiency even in low wind conditions. At the same time, the turbines installed at Pecineaga stand out for their size: 135-meter towers, 85-meter blades and a maximum height of 220 meters, which makes the project a benchmark for wind technology used today on the local market.

In the following period, the process continues with the commissioning of the turbines by the equipment supplier, followed by specific technical tests, which represent the last stage before their handover to the beneficiary. Subsequently, the entire wind farm will also undergo performance tests to verify compliance, carried out together with the Transmission and System Operator.

Upon completion, the Pecineaga wind farm will generate an estimated annual production of approximately 176,000 MWh, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 48,000 households. The project will thus contribute to increasing local renewable energy production and integrating new clean capacity into the national energy mix.

Active on the local market since 2011, Eurowind Energy Romania develops and operates renewable energy projects, with a dedicated local team. The company’s portfolio includes four operational solar parks – Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești and Teiuș – and a pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW in various stages of development. By the end of Q2 2026, the company will reach an operational capacity of 124 MW in Romania.
