The Energy Policy Group (EPG) has announced the launch of the professional training program “Fundamentals of Regulatory Affairs in Electricity Distribution”, an initiative that also marks the first step toward establishing the Institute for Energy Regulatory Studies (ISRE), the future organization dedicated to analyzing and exploring regulatory issues in the energy sector.
The program will take place from May 20 to June 11, 2026, at EPG’s headquarters, and will include seven days of classes, held twice a week, followed by a final assessment day. Registration is open until May 5, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
According to EPG, the course addresses a real need for professional skills in a field essential to the proper functioning of the energy market, in a context marked by rapid transformations and increasingly complex requirements driven by the energy transition. The program will cover topics such as the legislative and institutional framework, pricing methodology, investment processes, reporting to ANRE, as well as recent developments at the European and international levels.
The instructors involved are specialists with relevant experience in the regulation of electricity distribution operators, and the course is designed as a practical program built around current practices in Regulatory Affairs departments. In EPG’s view, this initiative marks the beginning of a broader portfolio of programs and events that will be carried out within the framework of ISRE.
EPG President and Co-founder Radu Dudău states that the future institute will be the first entity in Romania dedicated to in-depth exploration of regulations in the national and European energy sectors, with the participation of leading practicing experts. For his part, Valeriu Binig, director of ISRE, emphasizes that there is currently no specialized university training in this field and that the new program aims to accelerate and structure the training of experts who must combine technical, legal, and economic skills.
By launching this course, EPG is expanding its activities into the field of specialized professional training, a key segment for the modernization, resilience, and good governance of the energy system
