Ensys Renewable Solution has started the process of obtaining the necessary accreditations to carry out work on power lines, said Sebastian Babu, key account manager in the company, at the conference “Energy Efficiency for Energy Transition” organised in București by Energynomics together with the Romanian Energy Efficiency Fund – FREE and the Directorate for Energy Efficiency within the Ministry of Energy.

Ensys employs 300 people and operates through two divisions. One, dedicated to residential customers, has a monthly capacity of 800 PV projects, and the second, dedicated to industrial customers, can run monthly PV projects between 3 and 5 MW installed.

Ensys is one of the supporters of the RE100 initiative, which commits companies to consume only renewable energy by 2050.

According to Babu, hydrogen is currently a good solution for reducing the carbon footprint, but it is still too expensive and underdeveloped. A more readily available solution, however, is energy storage, which could also help balance electricity grids.

According to Ensys data, about 20-25% of a PV plant’s potential output is lost due to imbalances in the distribution grid forcing it to shut down.

Another barrier to the widespread adoption of own generation is that funding programmes, while welcome, have a long implementation time of around two years, during which time they can become insufficient or irrelevant to consumers.

The conference in Buvharest was the last of a series of 5 scheduled by the Energynomics communication platform, the Romanian Fund for Energy Efficiency – FREE and the Directorate for Energy Efficiency within the Ministry of Energy. The project was financed by Norwegian Grants 2014-2021.
