The wind farm located on the Curcubăta Mică peak, in the Avram Iancu commune, Alba county, is to be expanded with four more turbines, writes www.adevarul.ro. According to the publication, the 6 million euro investment is in the stage of issuing the environmental permit and will be carried out by the same company from Cluj county that also built the initial park – Energo Proiect SRL.

The objective is to place four more wind turbines between the existing ones and connect them to the existing connection points. The land on which the project will be implemented has a total surface area of 164 509 sqm and is located in the Avram Iancu commune. The turbines will be placed in concrete foundations with a depth of 3 metres and a surface area of 324 square metres. The turbine body, nacelles and blades will be transported to the site by means of trailors. Mounting on the foundation and assembly will be carried out using a large crane. Once completed, the four turbines will produce electricity at an installed capacity of 2.2 MW.

The wind farm on the highest peak in the Apuseni Mountains, also known as the Bihor peak (1849 metres), consists of five turbines, which were commissioned in 2016, www.adevarul.ro reports. The initial investment was more than 15 million euros, with much of the money coming from European funds. Over time, the Apuseni wind turbines have also become a tourist attraction. The access road has been upgraded to allow tourists to drive up to the mountain peak of Curcubăta Mare.
