Electrica’s shares have been admitted for inclusion, for the first time, in the composition of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS), following which the effective entry into the FTSE Russell indices will take place starting from the trading session of March 18, 2024, the company informs through a report submitted , Wednesday, to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

“The inclusion of Electrica’s shares in the FTSE Russell indices is a remarkable achievement, which honors and takes responsibility for us at the same time, an achievement we owe to all our investors, in a year in which we celebrate 10 years since the listing. Fulfilling the FTSE Russell criteria from the first year in which we set this goal represents an important reconfirmation of the efficiency of the implementation of the business strategy. I am proud of the work of our team. At the time of taking over the management of the company, we were in a difficult context, with Electrica shares at an all-time low , against the backdrop of the energy crisis. Currently, the price is almost double, the liquidity is much improved, and the prospects are very good for the year that has just begun,” said Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica.

The fulfillment of the criteria for inclusion in the international FTSE Russell indices comes only one year after the entry into force of the two market-maker contracts for the issuer (IMM – Issuer Market Maker), optimally calibrated, with BRK Financial Group S.A. and Wood & Company Financial Services a.s. Prague. According to the FTSE Russell methodology, Electrica shares met the capitalization criterion throughout 2023 and also passed the liquidity test (median daily trading volumes exceeded 0.05% of the number of free float shares) in 10 of the 12 months of the year 2023.

In December 2023, Electrica shares had the best course of the whole year 2023 and beyond, succeeding in meeting the monthly liquidity criterion according to FTSE Russell in the first 10 meetings out of 10, simultaneously with recording the best monthly return, of 17.4% , which marks the best aggregate return (including the dividend) since the beginning of the year, of 43.4%, even surpassing BET-TR (39.9%).

Also, in December 2023, Electrica shares reached a maximum of the last two years, of 11.56 lei, also exceeding two psychological thresholds during the month, of 10 lei (the nominal value) and 11 lei (the price from listing). Previously, the last time Electrica shares closed above the price of 10 lei was on February 23, 2022 (10.04 lei), and the most recent closing above 11 lei dates from January 12, 2022 (11.02 lei). At the same time, in December, Electrica shares recorded the highest monthly turnover in the last more than 3 years, of 5.9 million shares.
