ELCEN: The inhabitants of the Capital do not have hot water at optimal standards due to the large losses in the Thermoenergetica pipes

The inhabitants of the Capital do not have hot water or the supply is deficient due to the big losses in the pipeline network owned by Termoenergetica, due to the lack of investments, it is shown in a release of the thermal energy producer Electrocentrale Bucureşti (ELCEN).

“As a result of the repeated notifications of the consumers connected to the Centralized Heat Supply System of Bucharest Municipality regarding the deficient supply or lack of hot water in several areas of the Capital and, in particular, some misinformation regarding the ELCEN activity, we want to we make the following clarifications so that the media and the inhabitants who receive hot water in a centralized system benefit from real, clear and transparent information: ELCEN produces and delivers without problems the heat agent in the parameters requested by CM Termoenergetica Bucharest by daily order in accordance with contractual provisions included in the Thermal Energy Sale-Purchase Agreement concluded between the two entities,” it is shown in the release, according to Agerpres.

According to the quoted source, the thermal agent produced in the ELCEN power plants is delivered at the required temperature to the “border” of the power plants, from where it is taken over by the primary network by Termoenergetica which ensures the distribution and supply of thermal energy to more than half a million apartments and several thousand institutions in Bucharest.

“Due to the critical technical condition of the district heating network subordinated to the Bucharest City Hall, there are large losses along the route (approximately 2,000 tons of hot water per hour are drained into the ground through damaged pipes due to wear and lack of investment), so that the thermal agent reaching the end user no longer meets the optimum pressure and temperature parameters, and its quality changes as a result of poor supply to the consumer. The degradation of the network has also led to an increase in breakdowns and supply interruptions,” say the representatives of the energy producer.
