The international non-profit environmental organization Carbon Disclosure Project – CDP has recognized E.ON’s leadership in corporate sustainability. E.ON thus becomes one of the five percent of the total of 5,800 companies assessed, which is recognized for its measures to reduce emissions, limit climate risks and develop a low-carbon economy.

The CDP assesses climate protection measures within companies in a neutral and scientific way. Placing E.ON in “Category A” is a recognition of the company’s performance and transparency in environmental and climate issues.

„… We were included in Category A of the CDP. Climate protection and sustainability are at the heart of our strategic focus on the new world of energy. We are determined to continue on this path and strengthen E.ON’s position as a leading company in the field of climate and sustainability. We will be a climate-neutral company in 2040, and by 2050, the entire value chain will be decarbonised,” said Johannes Teyssen, CEO, E.ON.

CDP uses a detailed and independent methodology to evaluate companies. Depending on the number of points obtained, companies can be grouped into categories from A to D. The score is based on the amount of information made public, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best environmental practices, such as establishing ambitious goals.

CDP valuation is also increasingly considered by investors. They make the sustainability of companies an important criterion for their investment decisions. For example, in 2020, more than 500 investors with assets of more than $106 trillion and more than 150 buyers with purchase volumes of $4 trillion asked companies to make public data on environmental impact, risks and opportunities through the CDP platform.
