E.ON Energie Romania carried out the modernization works of the night lighting installation of the National Arena stadium in Bucharest, within a larger project, which aimed at preparing for the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament.

The works aimed to improve the lighting level, so that the stadium’s night light complies with UEFA requirements. According to the UEFA Quality Stadium Guide, the lighting system must be set up so that the entire playing surface is evenly lit, without shaded areas, and must also integrate lighting levels that meet the requirements for HD TV broadcasts. .

The completion of the project, which complemented the existing night, involved working at height with utilitarian climbers, adding 60 new LED lighting fixtures on dedicated metal structures, designing and installing electrical installations, conducting tests, etc.

At the end of 4 weeks of execution work, a team of UEFA experts checked the lighting parameters of the modernized night lighting. In addition to the well-known advantages of LED lighting technology, the new installation is even more efficient because it also allows integration with automation systems.

The National Arena Stadium has a capacity of 54,000 seats and was put into use in 2011.

In the final UEFA EURO 2020 tournament, which takes place between June 11 and July 11, Bucharest will host four matches, three in Group C and one in the eighth finals.
