De’Longhi Romania will carry out, in the first part of May, the technical problems of its new 3 MW photovoltaic power plant, said Carmen Petcu, general manager of the company, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Cluj-Napoca” organised by Energynomics and the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR.

According to a company announcement, the investment amounts to 11 million lei, excluding VAT, and the duration of the works should not exceed 30 June 2024. The unit will also be equipped with storage capacity, according to the announcement.

De’Longhi is also concerned with energy efficiency to maintain the competitiveness of its Romanian plants within the group, and according to Petcu, energy efficiency “is not only a responsibility or a sustainability obligation, but also an economic driver”.

“To support our energy efficiency, we systematically started with a rigorous energy audit. Energy efficiency is not only about green energy, but also about reducing energy, water and waste consumption and producing equipment with a longer lifespan,” Petcu explained.

To this end, the company focuses on easy repair of equipment such as coffee and breakfast machines, regular replacement of air conditioning systems and other plant components, and investment in lighting fixtures powered by solar-powered mini-panels.

According to Petcu, De’Longhi has managed to reach a level of 94% reused, reusable or recycled waste.
