Delgaz Grid faced this spring a series of problems due to vegetation fires, mostly in rural areas, affecting gas and electricity distribution networks. The worst situations were in Bacău and Iaşi counties, where 25 thousand consumers did not benefit from electricity for long periods of time.

Uncontrolled vegetation fires, in the vicinity of energy grids, leave behind, among other things, large amounts of ash, wind-driven, into the electricity grids where they can emit an electric arc. The electric arc can lead to the breaking and falling of conductors, with a major risk of electric shock, for nearby people. In such situations, the power line is decommissioned, both for extinguishing the fire and for checking the network and making the necessary repairs.

Open fire in the vicinity of overhead gas pipelines can have a major impact if flanges and / or flanged connections are installed in the area by burning / melting sealing gaskets with large gas emissions that come on fire, once come into contact with the flames. In these extreme cases, it is necessary to empty the natural gas distribution system, to perform the remediation and re-commissioning according to clear procedures.
