The Competition Council is analyzing the transaction through which Greenvolt International Power and RNV Infrastructure intend to take over Borzești Energy Storage, the competition authority announces.
Greenvolt International Power SA is part of the Greenvolt Group, from Portugal, which produces energy from biomass and develops wind, solar and battery projects in Europe and the USA.
”There is no doubt that the development of storage solutions must be a key priority if we want to tackle the significant bottlenecks in grid access which are limiting the capacity to absorb and manage intermittent renewable energy sources. I can also confirm that we are experiencing a rising demand from our clients to provide storage solutions as they seek greater energy independence, efficiency, and sustainability in their commercial solar systems.
Greenvolt has been at the forefront of this emerging trend and our offer in the DG segment, besides the PV panels, includes the possibility to install batteries which can enable savings up to 70% on energy bills compared to grid energy. Businesses are increasingly opting for pv+battery solutions and this is a trend that is here to stay, especially as battery prices are becoming increasingly competitive.
Regarding large scale storage, I previously mentioned we were awarded 1.2 GW of capacity payments for six Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Poland. RNV Infrastructure SRL is part of the Renovatio group, which is active in Romania, through several companies, in the development, generation, marketing, supply and management of renewable energy assets.
Borzești Energy Storage SRL is currently developing a battery energy storage system in Onești municipality, Bacău county.
In accordance with the provisions of Competition Law no. 21/1996, this transaction must be authorized by the Competition Council, which will evaluate it in order to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the deadlines provided by law.
