The Romanian market is facing a number of trends at the same time. One of these is the need for customers to be able to save money on their energy bills while also wanting to be environmentally friendly, said Claudia Griech, General Manager of E.ON Energie.

“We are in a calm environment, although the markets are still quite sensitive after the past years. We still have challenges in Romania in terms of regulation, but there are potential positive outcomes for end-user customers in terms of prices and the financial health of the suppliers,” she said, at the “Spring Cocktail 2024” event organised by Energynomics.

Sustainability preoccupations are gaining more and more ground in Romania, alongside digitalization, a process that is extremely relevant for customers in their interactions with energy suppliers.

Another visible trend in the Romanian energy market is the prosumer business, a trend “highly supported by government programs.”

Griech says that the market needs to be careful about how it creates these programmes because, as the number of prosumers grows, the market will have a lot of problems if battery storage units are not added.

For the 11th year in a row, Energynomics organized Spring Cocktail, an original concept event dedicated to the exchange of ideas on the Romanian energy industry. This year’s edition benefited from the support of our partners: BCR, E.On, Electrica Furnizare, Huawei, OMV Petrom, Renomia, Romgaz, WALDEVAR Energy.
