The president of PNL, Florin Cîţu, said on Tuesday that he does not see the meaning of a regulation of the energy market after April 1.

“I also heard in the public space that a regulation is being tried after April 1. Now I could say that I came up with the solution to say that we are regulating the market and it was for the time being. I don’t really see the point after April 1st, when we enter summer, to regulate the market for six months until October, when, after that, winter comes again. Someone didn’t think very well when it came to this solution. (…) If we really want to do something, we have to think about next winter. In summer-as we know very well, consumption decreases. I don’t think anyone thought very well. The solution we had proposed was for these winter months, when you have high consumption, to regulate the market, ANRE opposed, we came up with the other option we have now. We will discuss what happens after April 1,” said Cîţu, in the Parliament, according to Agerpres.

He said he supported several solutions proposed in the energy measures ordinance.

“It is not a competition between those who help Romanians. The goal is to find the best solutions in the coalition. Is it a PNL ordinance to which we add PSD amendments? Not. It is the ordinance of the Romanian Government, the coalition’s solutions to reduce the burden for Romanians in these few months, this winter, for bills. There are several solutions. It’s true, a few were proposed, there were discussions. One of them, if it is a question of solutions for the past bills, the Ministry of Justice must decide if the retroactive solutions can be taken, I support them. As for the penalties, I support them again, but we have to be careful there, because we might try to be tougher, but also not to be, we have to be very careful,” said the PNL president.
