The price of the carbon certificate on the ICE ECX exchange in London opened on the morning EUA trading sessions on Tuesday at 55.20 euro/tCO2, gaining more than 6% only in the last 6 days and continuing the upward trend of the last 5 weeks, according to Carbon Expert.

On small volumes, the market recorded a daily maximum of almost 58 euro, for contracts with delivery in December 2023, according to the Energynomics analysis. However, the main volumes of the day were traded at a price of over 55.5 euros, for the current year.

“The price of carbon needs to rise even more to restore the advantage of natural gas over coal in EU’s energy production,” says Carbon Pulse.

The prices of carbon certificates are found in consumer bills, recent increases being among the causes of the advance in energy prices.
