The stakes of the battle in the energy sector are to clean up and we must end it with the speculations of land and ATRs (Technical Connection Approvals), in the interest of serious investors, which did not take place and do not take place, declared, on Wednesday, the advisor to the Romanian Prime Minister, Sebastian Burduja.
“I remember that, from the beginning of my mandate, in 2023, I said exactly these things: we must end with once and for all the land and ATR speculators in the interest of serious investors, which did not take place and do not take place, even less so today, because of what happened in January 2024. There was a bill in the Senate Industry Committee, we discussed, we agreed, and it included guarantees per megawatt at a reasonable level, so that we could clean up the market and serious investors would remain. Several parties opposed it at the time and we were unable to move forward with that project. You have to ask those at Transelectrica, who initially, on a technical level, said it was a correct idea. Later, they no longer agreed… and I think you also have to ask ANRE. I am not targeting anyone in particular, but I know very well who was at those discussions and what positions they had. If that law had been made then, in January 2024, it would not have been possible to we still had tens of thousands of megawatts in ATRs released in the last two years and we had a market that investors could enter. So, it’s a matter of will,” Burduja said, quoted by Agerpres
He added that the way the energy sector is governed and managed is very important, “which either rewards those who are serious (…), or we remain with the Dâmbovița policy based on games and combinations.”
“We are not the only country facing this problem. Other states, Spain, for example, have found the solution to allow access to the network for serious investors, and for land brokers to mind their own business. I am convinced that things will be cleaned up in a very short time. The stakes of this battle, which is not about one person or another, are about a way of governing, of administering the country, including the energy sector, which either rewards the serious ones and supports the investors who do the job, or remains with the Dâmbovița policy, based on games and combinations”, emphasized Sebastian Burduja.
