The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved new energy generation and storage capacities with a total output of 593.465 MW, the majority of which consists of storage capacities.

At the same time, licenses were approved for the commercial operation of energy facilities totaling 239.2 MW, primarily comprising photovoltaic capacities.

“During the ANRE Regulatory Committee meeting on September 22, 2026, authorizations were approved for the establishment of new energy capacities totaling 593.465 MW, comprising: photovoltaic capacities – 66.247 MW, added storage capacities – 132.65 MW, and stand-alone storage installations – 394.568 MW,” ANRE stated in a Facebook post, according to News.ro.

The institution also approved licenses for the commercial operation of energy facilities totaling 239.2 MW, of which 185.4 MW represents photovoltaic capacity, 49.8 MW wind capacity, and 4 MW stand-alone storage installations. ANRE further notes that, also on September 22, licenses were approved for electricity and natural gas supply activities, authorizations were granted for the establishment of natural gas distribution systems, and approvals were issued regarding prices, tariffs, and technical losses associated with thermal energy supply systems.

At the same time, the Regulatory Committee approved the methodology for analyzing the costs and benefits of distributed energy sources, with a view to sharing renewable energy within energy communities.

“For energy communities, this regulation establishes the mechanism required to access tariff reductions, contingent upon demonstrating benefits provided to the grid. Thus, the distribution tariff reduction may be applied only when the benefits generated for the grid exceed the additional costs, thereby avoiding the transfer of unjustified costs to other system users,” ANRE’s leadership stated.
