E.ON companies in the fields of electricity distribution and supply and natural gas will contribute another 500,000 lei to the efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are to be directed to a number of hospitals in order to purchase the necessary equipment for treating the infected and equipping them with protective equipment for medical personnel, according to the company.

The allocation of these funds comes as a continuation of a program by which the E.ON companies in Romania have proposed to support the extraordinary efforts made during this period by the medical personnel on the front line in the fight against the new coronavirus and thus help to ensure conditions adequate for rapid intervention and treatment of as many cases of infection as possible.

“I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the medical staff who make special efforts, under difficult conditions, risking their own health. We convey our hopeful thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery to the patients affected by coronavirus and who must benefit from the best treatment conditions,” said Manfred Paasch, general manager of E.ON Romania.

A first step has already been taken, through the financial support granted to the Mureș County Clinical Hospital for the purchase of a complete test equipment, specific for COVID-19. The device will supplement the existing medical equipment at this time, thus reducing the diagnostic time. It can process 50 samples at a time, the total processing time being of 7-8 hours.
