Wetterbest, the second manufacturer of roofing systems in Romania, both in terms of volume and turnover, inaugurated, in Băicoi, the new production facility, following an investment of 44.5 million lei. Wetterbest is part of the TeraPlast Group, the largest Romanian manufacturer of building materials.

The implementation of the investment project started in the second half of 2018 and was carried out in two phases. The project was partially co-financed through a state aid scheme, the value of the state aid being of 8.64 million lei.

“We have completed the relocation nowadays, when Romania’s economy is so affected. We believe that now, more than ever, it is vital that we keep our focus and look in perspective. We protect our employees and adapt to the current conditions, but we do not want to stop the production as it happens in Italy. We have invested thinking about our partners and the long-term development. The new factory benefits from the most modern equipment available, which allows us to increase production capacity by 30%, so that we can serve even more efficiently both the local market and the markets in the region. This difficult period, like others, will pass, and we intend to be among the winners,” said Marian Pîrvu, Wetterbest CEO.

The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 10 million square meters of metal tile. As a result of the relocation, 42 new jobs were created, so that today the total number of Wetterbest employees is of over 350 people. In addition to state-of-the-art equipment, the new production unit benefits from automation of production and management processes, which will help optimize production and logistics and storage flows. Prior to the relocation, Wetterbest was operating in an area on both sides of a county road, and the spaces were not optimal for efficient ordering, distribution and logistics. Now, the company has at its disposal all the necessary tools for development, at the same level as the big European players.

Wetterbest’s objectives for this year are to increase the turnover and market share, increase the accessibility of the products through the development of the distribution network and increase the exports to the countries of the region. Wetterbest products are present in most DIY stores, as well as in the three showrooms in Cluj, Craiova and Brașov. Last year, the company registered business of 269.9 million lei, up 22%, compared to 2018.
