OMV Petrom announces its support for the recommendations issued by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) on climate change risks and opportunities. Being the first company in Romania to become a supporter of TCFD, OMV Petrom joins a group of over 1,300 organizations around the world that have stated their support for TCFD since its voluntary recommendations were launched in 2017.

“OMV Petrom has long been dedicated to sustainable business practices. As an energy company, we are committed to contributing to Romania’s transition to a low-carbon economy. We believe that the application of the TCFD reporting guide greatly enhances transparency and allows stakeholders to better understand the company’s climate change efforts. We hope that many other Romanian companies will join us to become supporters of TCFD, thus contributing to the country’s sustainable economy,” said Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.

OMV Petrom 2025’s sustainability strategy sets clear goals for safety, carbon efficiency, diversity, innovation, business principles and social responsibility.

OMV Petrom has published information on carbon management in its sustainability report since 2018. Through sustained investments, the company has reduced the carbon emissions of its operations by 22% in 2019, as compared to 2010.

In the future, OMV Petrom will deepen its analysis and reporting on climate change risks and their management.
