RES market towards maturity
10 Sep 2025 @ 10:00 - 16:00
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 10:00 am, we invite you to the Sheraton Hotel in Bucharest, Iridium Hall (5-7 Calea Dorobanți, Bucharest 010551 – see map!) to the first conference proposed by Energynomics this Autumn, for a conversation among experts. After a period of accelerated growth, marked by new investments in photovoltaics and wind, the market is approaching a maturation phase. This brings substantial opportunities, but also more complex challenges.
Challenges relate to integrating new capacity into the grid, managing imbalances, clarifying regulation and long-term support mechanisms. At the same time, market competitiveness is increasing, forcing a consolidation of the local value chain and greater sophistication in operation, maintenance and financing services.
National and European climate targets keep up the pressure for RES development, and the funds available through the NRRP, the Modernization Fund and the capacity markets offer important opportunities for players who know how to take advantage of them.
Companies that are able to meet the challenges of integration, regulation and cost-efficiency will strengthen their competitive positions in an increasingly professionalized market that is more connected to regional developments.
Access is allowed based on a €75 + VAT admission ticket
CONTEXT
Renewable energy supports energy security by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and exposure to price volatility. In addition, RES contribute to decarbonisation targets and improve the image of companies.
Better grid integration, through digitisation and storage, transforms RES from an intermittent source into a predictable and valuable contributor to the stability of the national energy system.
A mature market for RES creates the conditions for strengthening the local value chain, generating specialised jobs, opportunities for local equipment and service manufacturers, and attracting foreign investment.
As the RES market matures, more sophisticated business models are emerging: public-private partnerships, long-term corporate PPAs, integration of ancillary services and storage capacities.
Project financing is diversifying, including European sources, green funds, sustainable bonds and guarantee schemes to minimise project risk.
THEMES AND AGENDA
09.30-10.00 Registration of participants
10.00-10.05 Introduction from the organizers
10.05-10.15 KEYNOTE SPEAKER George Niculescu, President of ANRE
10.15-11.25 Integrating RES into the system – Challenges and solutions for balancing and stability
We analyse how Romania can integrate new renewable capacity while maintaining grid stability, the imbalances caused by RES variability and the technical, digital and market solutions that support balancing. From balancing markets and ancillary services to aggregation models and operational flexibility, we explore regional examples and lessons for a more mature and resilient market. In addition, we are at a particularly important transition point in terms of regulation and commercial strategy for project developers.
