The Competition Council authorized the transaction by which Premier Energy PLC, Cyprus, takes over the wind energy producer Ecoenergia SRL, Romania, according to a statement from the competition authority.

Premier Energy is a company that carries out only holding activities, holding, directly and indirectly, stakes in various companies in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

In Romania, Premier Energy operates in the field of natural gas, both as a distributor and as a supplier, carrying out, at the same time, activities related to the distribution of natural gas, through the companies it owns.

Thus, through Ligatne Limited, it has control over Premier Energy and Ligatne Gas. Also through Ligatne Limited and Premier Energy S.R.L., Premier Energy P.L.C. also has indirect control over B.E.R.G. Gas System S.A. and Premier Energy Trading S.R.L.

Ecoenergia is a producer of electricity from wind power, operating a wind farm with a capacity of 34.5 MW, located in Stejaru, Tulcea County.

Following the analysis, the Competition Council found that this operation does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition on the Romanian market or on a substantial part of it and that there are no serious doubts as to its compatibility with a normal competitive environment.
