ExxonMobil officials are negotiating with the Russians from Lukoil and the Polish company PGNiG to sell the 50% stake in the Neptun Deep oil field in the Black Sea, energy sources said.

“Exxon is in talks with the two companies. The discussions with Lukoil are more advanced,” the sources quoted by Agerpres said.

On November 19, Adrian Volintiru, the general director of Romgaz, declared that the company is considering the possibility of taking over a 15-20% stake in the Neptune project in the Black Sea, after the consultant dealing with the Exxon’s exit from Romania contacted the Romanian producer of gas to start negotiations.

“We have to analyze the first documents. We thought, from our point of view, that it would be good to take a 15-20% stake. We have the ability to finance this takeover from our own sources, and from other sources and making a mix of the two,” said the Romgaz official.
