Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP, resynchronized to the National Energy System

Nuclearelectrica announces the resynchronization of Unit 1 of the Cernavoda NPP to the National Energy System, after remedying the cause that led to the desynchronization that took place on Wednesday evening.

“The resynchronization maneuvers were carried out in accordance with the procedures of Cernavoda NPP, Unit 1 operating at the nominal parameters of Nuclear Safety”, it is mentioned in a release of the company.

On Wednesday evening, SN Nuclearelectrica announced that Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP was disconnected from the National Energy System during the reactor power increase phase, after the resynchronization to the network, following the completion of the works related to the planned shutdown, during the same evening.

“Specialists are investigating the case and will carry out remediation works in accordance with the procedures of Cernavoda NPP. We specify the fact that the disconnection of Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP from the National Energy System, as well as the remediation works, do not have an adverse impact on the nuclear safety, personnel, population and the environment,” SNN representatives said in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, according to Agerpres.

Unit 1 entered the planned shutdown program on June 20, 2020, in order to carry out maintenance work that takes place every two years for each unit. The decision was adopted by the Board of Directors of SNN in the meeting of May 8, 2020, based on the analysis of all impact factors on the planned shutdown of Unit 1.
