Hundreds of miners and energeticians of the National Trade Union Federation of Mine Energy announced that they will walk to Bucharest on April 11th, writes Mediafax. They want to submit a memorandum to the Government and Cotroceni to save the Oltenia Energy Complex (CEO), and they will protest in front of Government, writes Mediafax. Syndicate leaders call this action the “march of despair”.

“We do not go to Bucharest to beg. We go to Bucharest so that it can be seen that we are Romanian, we are Romanian citizens and we want to stop being robbed, humiliated and discriminated against in our country. We want to have an energy mix as most developed countries in Europe and worldwide have. We who have decided to make this march we are more determined than ever. We leave in a peaceful march to pull the alarm. We will leave from Rovinari thermal powerplant, then Turceni, Craiova, Bucharest, we go on the way of the thermal powerplants. It will be done on foot, we will syncronize, so when we will arrive in front of the Government other colleagues will arrive with coaches, in order to organize a rally at the end of the march,” said a trade union leader from the Rovinari area, quoted by Mediafax.

Recently, the management of CEO announced that it proposes the dismissal of 2,000 employees after July 1st, 2016.
