Ukraine has attracted an investment of 1.1 billion euro (about 1.3 billion U.S. dollars) in green energy projects in the past three years, Ukraine’s State Agency for Energy Efficiency (SAEE) said on Friday.

In particular, those projects include the installation of biogas units and the construction of biomass power station, the agency said in a statement.

In the near future, Ukraine has good opportunities to attract investment in the construction of plants producing solar panels given the rising demand on this equipment in the Ukrainian market, the statement said, quoted by Xinhua.

In May, Sergiy Savchuk, head of the SAEE, said Ukraine is interested in a joint implementation of about 100 green energy projects with China, which require an investment of about 3.95 billion U.S. dollars.

In December 2017, the SAEE signed a memorandum to promote partnership in green energy with China’s National Energy Administration.

The Ukrainian Energy Strategy targeted to increase the renewable part of the energy mix from the current 4 percent to 25 percent by 2035.
