Transgaz has completed the works at the third and last natural gas compression station within the BRUA project – Phase 1, the one in Bibeşti, Gorj County. The value of STC Bibeşti’s investment is of 39.08 million euro.

The inauguration of the station took place on Sunday, August 23, and the event was attended by Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister of Romania, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Daniel Popescu, and other government officials, together with the Director General of SNTGN Transgaz SA, Ion Sterian, and representatives of the executive management of the company and of the local public authorities.

It is the third and last compression station within the BRUA Phase 1 project, which Transgaz puts into operation, after, in 2019, the natural gas compression stations from Jupa, Caraş Severin (September 30, 2019) and Podişor-Giurgiu County (October 31, 2019) were inaugurated and put into operation.

The purpose of the Bibeşti natural gas compression station is to compress the natural gas in order to compensate for the pressure losses that are inherent in the natural gas transmission process. The station is bidirectional and can compress gas both in the direction of Podisor/ Giurgiu and in the direction of Jupa/ Nădlac. The natural gas compression station from Bibeşti is a technological installation interconnected to the following main gas pipelines: Dn 32″ STC Podişor – STC Bibeşti, Dn 32″ STC Bibesti – STC Jupa, Dn 20″ STC Bibeşti – NT Hurezani.
