Transelectrica is working on the 400 kV OHL Oradea Sud – Nădab, which will allow an increase of the interconnection transfer capacity on the export direction by 100 MW, and on the import direction by 300 MW, which contributes to Romania’s compliance with its obligations from implementation of EU Regulations.

“The commitment for the investments in the energy transport infrastructure assumed by the management of CNTEE Transelectrica SA is firm and falls within the planned trajectory. In this sense, the President of the Directorate, Cătălin Nițu, together with the members of the Directorate, Andreea Miu and Bogdan Marcu checked the stage of works for the completion of the section of the 400 kV Oradea Sud-Nădab Overhead Power Line, part of the 400 kV Oradea – Bekescsaba OHL,” company officials said.

The Oradea – Beckescsaba OHL 400 kV Overhead Power Line project was initiated in 2006, and since 2008 the Oradea Sud-Nădab section has been in conservation, due to difficulties related mainly to expropriation procedures. The investment, which will increase the country’s interconnection capacity and contribute to the completion of Romania’s 400 kV Ring, was resumed this summer after more than 12 years of blockages.

“Getting operational, this line has an important role in securing the electricity supply in the northwestern part of the country. The benefits of this investment are related both to the well-being of local communities, by ensuring optimal conditions for the operation of internal transmission networks, and to achieving European objectives in terms of achieving the single electricity market and increasing the capacity of interconnection. The construction of this line will also mean the elimination of congestion in the northwest. We have set an ambitious deadline for the completion of this section and we intend to meet it with the help of the contractor. We are carefully monitoring this site, which will contribute to Romania’s development,” said Cătălin NIȚU, President of the CNTEE Transelectrica SA Management Board.

The Oradea-Bekescsaba 400 kV Overhead Power Line project, a total investment of over 87 million lei, has been partially put into use since 2008, namely the double circuit section, OHL 400 kV Nădab (RO) – Bekescsaba (HU ) with a length of 60 kilometers, of which 22 kilometers on the Romanian territory, simultaneously with the 400 kV Arad-Nădab OHL. The 400 kV OHL section Oradea Sud – Nădab has a total length of 72 kilometers and is partially completed, and will be completed in the coming months.
