Transelectrica has signed the financing contract for the construction of OPL Gutinaș – Smârdan

Transelectrica today signed the financing contract for the construction of the 400 kV Gutinaș – Smârdan Overhead Power Line, worth 33.43 million euro. The non-reimbursable European funding was obtained through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM) 2014-2020, Priority Axis 8 – Intelligent and sustainable systems for the transport of electricity and natural gas, Specific objective 8.1 – Increasing the capacity of the National Energy System for taking energy produced from green sources. The total value of the investment is 56.76 million euro, the company announced.

The project will ensure the increase of the capacity of the National Energy System (SEN) for taking over the energy produced from renewable resources – the new plants wind turbines installed in Dobrogea and Moldova. At the same time, the project will support the efficiency of the interconnection of the electricity networks between Romania and the Republic of Moldova and will contribute to strengthening the integration of the regional and European energy markets, by providing interconnections and internal lines in the north-south and east-west directions for the completion of the internal market.

This project will also contribute to the development of the European electricity transport infrastructure.
At European level, it will ensure the consolidation of the electricity transmission corridor along the Black Sea shore (Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria) and to the rest of Europe (Black Sea Corridor).
