The miners from the Paroşeni and Uricani exploitations continued Tuesday, for the second day in a row, the protest started in the underground of the two mines, while the representatives of the union, the administration and the county authorities tried to find a solution to defuse the conflict, during a meeting of the Commission of social dialogue near Hunedoara Prefecture, according to Agerpres.

Following the discussions, it was agreed that 60 of the 300 miners to be laid off from the Valea Jiului Mine Closing Society (SNIMVJ), to which the two mines belong, should be taken over by the Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH), with long-term contracts, thus partially resolving one of the protesters’ claims.

“The management of the CEH will communicate the list with the 60 selected miners, and they will be employed on November 1, with employment contracts for an indefinite period, thus ensuring the same conditions and rights as the other employees of the CEH,” said the president of the Union “Huila”, Laszlo Domokos.

As for the second claim, it was not fulfilled, since for the extension of the validity of Ordinance 36 or the issuance of a similar normative act, which would allow the dismissed persons to benefit from supplementary income and seniority in work for another 22 months, cannot be covered by the Prefect, being under the jurisdisction of the relevant ministries.

The protests continue, with the miners trapped underground benefitting from proper ventilation, according to an official quoted by Radio Romania.
