The resumption of imports on the Ukrainian route increased by 16% the quantity of gas entering Romania

Domestic companies increased their gas imports in August by over 16% or 313 GWh compared to July, in particular as a result of resuming gas imports on the Ukrainian route. Most of the gas that entered Romania, over 72%, came from Hungary (1,613 TWh), the firm import capacity from the neighboring state being reserved and used in a 100% ratio, according to profit.ro.

In August, 2.23 TWh were imported, 3.5 times more than in August 2018, when 625 GWh entered Romania. Not only the quantities were higher, but also the average import price. If, in July, a MWh of gas was imported with 81.3 lei, in August it reached 81.97 lei.

Starting with the end of July and the beginning of August, in addition to the approximately 52 GWh / day from Hungary, Romania has also received about 20 GWh per day from Ukraine.
