The miners from Uricani and Paroșeni were blocked 12 days underground and they gave up the strike only after the government’s promised to re-issue an ordinance to extend their compensatory rights in the event of early retirement and dismissal.

The government sent energynomics.ro a statement announcing that it approved on November 13 the Emergency Ordinance which ensures an additional monthly severance payment, for the miners to be laid off from the companies Complexul Energetic Hunedoara and Societatea Națională de Închideri Mine.

“The situation addressed by the Emergency Ordinance adopted today has not been resolved for more than a year. Thus, the current government has allocated the amount of 91.497 million lei to cover the monthly income in addition and will be insured for the period 2019-2024 from the unemployment insurance budget,” the statement reveals.

According to the Emergency Ordinance, the supplementary income for each person is equal to the difference between the net salary in the last 3 months of activity but no more than the level of the average net salary in the economy from January of the year in which the employee is laid off and the level of the allowance for unemployment in the same year.

The miners will benefit from both the monthly income in addition and the unemployment benefit, depending on their seniority, for 12, 20 or 24 months.
