Almost 600 Smart City projects are currently in the project stage, being implemented or have already been completed in 87 cities in Romania, according to a specialized report published on Thursday.

In March last year, 330 smart city projects were underway in 45 cities. According to the results of the report prepared by Vegacomp Consulting, the top of the first cities, depending on the number of projects in the plan, being implemented or delivered is led by Alba Iulia – with 106 initiatives, followed by Cluj-Napoca (54), Timișoara (26) , Arad (19), Iaşi (19), Braşov (18), Bucharest – Sector 4 (18), Oradea (17), Sibiu (16) and Piatra Neamţ (15), according to Agerpres.

Overall, the June 2020 report lists 594 initiatives in the project stage, under implementation or already completed, in 87 large, medium and small cities in the country, double the March data of the previous year.
The identified Smart City projects keep their classification in the same six Smart City Verticals, respectively: Smart Economy, Smart Mobility, Smart Environment, Smart People, Smart Living and Smart Governance.

According to the analysis, the Smart Mobility vertical currently stands out significantly, also in the context of increased attention to safety and health, which is reflected in transport – covered by no less than 188 projects, with more than 100 more than in the previous report.

In the next places are Smart Governance, with 130 projects, Smart Living (121), Smart Economy (84), Smart Environment (42) and Smart People (29).
