The VELUX Group and Schneider Electric have established a partnership through which they will conclude renewable energy procurement contracts through bilateral contracts (PPA). This will intensify the efforts of the global roofing windows manufacturer to reach its goal of 100% renewable energy (RE100) by 2023, which is part of its goal of neutralizing carbon emissions by 2030.

Future PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) aim to enable the development of new renewable energy projects across Europe, with Schneider Electric supporting the VELUX Group in the procurement process as a full-service advisor to the buyer. The main motivation of the VELUX Group is to achieve its RE 100 goal and to bring new renewable sources into the network.

This effort is part of the VELUX Group’s commitment to becoming a 100% carbon-neutral company. Moreover, it contributes to halving carbon emissions in its value chain by 2030. At the same time, the company will seek to offset its entire historical carbon footprint – dating from its inception in 1941 – through conservation projects of forests, identified and managed by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). Together, these initiatives are meant to support the VELUX Group’s overall commitment to becoming Lifetime Carbon Neutral by 2041.

“The planet is facing dual climate and natural crises, so we are committed to doing everything we can to consolidate a more sustainable future,” said Jörn Neubert, Senior Vice President of Supply, VELUX Group. “We are among the first companies in the world – and the first company in the construction industry – to take responsibility for both past and future carbon emissions through our commitment to becoming Lifetime Carbon Neutral, and this partnership with Schneider Electric is an important part of achieving this.”

“It is an honor to have this partnership with the VELUX Group on its journey to accelerate decarbonisation with renewable energy,” said Philippe Diez, EMNE Energy & Sustainability Services Vice President of Schneider Electric. “The VELUX Group is a dedicated pioneer of the corporate climate and actions related to nature. Taking responsibility not only for past impact but also for future emissions is both innovative and inspiring. We are excited to help them accelerate their climate goals and support their most important commitment to becoming Lifetime Carbon Neutral by 2041.”
