Romgaz announced that it is directing the money allocated to sponsorships for the medical sector to hospitals in the country that need support during this period for the purchase of necessary medical equipment and protective equipment against COVID 19.

Romgaz thus responded to the call from the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu, and today allocated the amount of 1.5 million lei to support the Alba County Emergency Hospital for the purchase of sanitary materials needed to fight COVID 19.

Adrian Volintiru, Romgaz’s general manager, stated: “Following the discussions with the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Mr. Virgil Popescu, we decided that the priority for Romgaz is to support Romanian hospitals in the fight against Coronavirus. We are all aware of the importance of supporting hospitals with the necessary medical equipment and protective equipment, so that the medical staff is protected and the population feels safe! Only together can we act appropriately and limit the adverse effects of the pandemic as much as possible. I assure the state authorities that they have a reliable partner in Romgaz and we will do everything we can to help the hospitals in Romania.”

Since the beginning of the state of emergency, Romgaz has supported the Romanian Red Cross to purchase and distribute 1 million medical masks for protection against COVID-19 and to intensify the effort to combat the spread of the new Coronavirus in Romania, by amplifying the national information campaign and raising public awareness on methods to prevent infection with the new virus and provided financial support to the Sibiu County Emergency Clinical Hospital for the expansion and endowment of the Intensive Care Anesthesiology Clinic in order to prepare for the treatment of COVID patients.
