Romanian nuclear industry calls on the European institutions to unequivocally reconsider its role in order to achieve a clean environment, prosperity and increased energy security, according to a statement from the Romanian Atomic Forum (ROMATOM).

ROMATOM submitted to the European Commission its position, which calls for equal treatment for all technologies, consideration of the long life cycle of the industry, as well as the creation of an independent group of experts with in-depth knowledge of the nuclear life cycle to assess industry throughout the life cycle.

ROMATOM maintains that in the “Final Report of the Group of Technical Experts on Sustainable Financing” of March 2020, not much has changed from previous reports, as the group of experts has not yet been set up and nuclear power is in an unfair position, compared to other low carbon sources.
