The Federation of Romanian Transport Operators (FORT) will protest on Wednesday, March 27, in Strasbourg, against Mobility Package 1, along with other employers in Romania and the Eastern countries.

“Western countries are trying to take advantage of the situation created by Brexit and want to vote on the three crucial components of Mobility Package 1 at the plenary session of the European Parliament, held on March 27. The Federation of Romanian Transporters Operators strongly opposes the provisions of Mobility Package 1, against the restriction of cabotage, namely the introduction of a cooling-off period of 5 days (or any other period) before other cabotage operations can be carried out in the same country with the same vehicle, the FORT representatives said, according to the association’s press release.

FORT also asks for a reassessment of the normal weekly rest period in the cab, while it is against applying the rules of detachment to road transport.

In this context, about 300 FORT representatives are preparing to protest on 27 March, hoping that this time, “the number of Romanian MEPs present and voting will be complete,” according to Agerpres.
